The new podcast has been created by a group of young people who have grown up in the UK living with HIV, wanting to share their thoughts, hopes and dreams.
Young people were encouraged to take part in this new project by CHIVA (The Children’s HIV Association).Meanwhile Turtle Key Arts have helped to lead the creative development work at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith with a team of professional artists including: Aga Serugo-Lugo (composer), Oliver Campbell-Smith (project director), Ryan Matthews-Robinson (poetry facilitator), Nandita Ghose (audio producer) and Simon Le Vans (audio producer). CHIVA received a grant from the Co-op Foundation to deliver this project.
Featuring music, poetry and drama the ArcHIVe Podcast will explore misinformation about HIV and AIDS, stigma,managing HIV medication and how difficult it can be to talk to other people about having HIV.
With Channel 4’s new series It’s A Sin bringing HIV to the public’s attention, the aim of the ArcHIVe Podcast is to shed a light of what it is like living with HIV in the 2020’s to present a different narrative that many won’t realise.
However, despite the challenges that young people with HIV face, the podcast reveals that through connecting, building a community and feeling accepted young people can become empowered. It will also provide insight and understanding, addressing ongoing HIV-related stigma and provides updated information about HIV today.
