New photographs have been released of some of the performers taking part in this year’s WhatsOnStage Awards ceremony, taking place virtually due to the current restrictions in place.

Streaming live from the Turbine Theatre on the 14th March, this year’s ceremony is set to be hosted by  Jodie Prenger and Tom Read Wilson and featuring Amy Hart and Oscar Conlon-Morrey.

In a unique ceremony, this year’s WhatsOnStage Awards asked the public to nominate nominated Angels – someone in their life that has been a source of love, support, and kindness during the pandemic instead of performers and creators. From those nominated, 21 Angels will be announced during the ceremony and will receive a complimentary night at the theatre once live performances return.

The productions that would have been eligible for this year’s awards will be rolled over and included in the nominations for 2022, so all productions that opened from December 2019 until 16 March 2020 will still have an opportunity to be voted on.

Talking about this year’s awards, Sita McIntosh, Chief Operating Officer of WhatsOnStage, said: “With no live performances at the moment, we like every Award show, have had to rethink how best to celebrate our industry and the amazing people who work in it. We are delighted to be able to bring together this stellar line-up of musical theatre talent, showcasing some of the amazing shows that were cut short by COVID-19 and highlighting those that audiences can look forward to. We are hugely grateful to everyone contributing their time and their talent. We can’t wait to “raise the curtain” on Sunday 14th March at 7pm.”
