The production is now set to open in Bristol on the 25th August.

It has been confirmed that Disney has postponed the opening of the upcoming UK tour of the musical. The production had been set to open at the Leicester Curve on the 25th May before visiting the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin – It will now open at the  Bristol Hippodrome on the 25th August.

In a statement on the show’s website it said: “Whilst we cannot wait to bring our new production of Beauty and the Beast to theatres around the UK and Ireland, working with the information we have available, it is with sadness that we have to delay the opening of the tour. We understand the disappointment this will cause, but the health and wellbeing of our audiences, cast, crew and theatre staff have to remain paramount as we make plans to bring our shows back to the stage.”

The Dublin dates for the production have now been moved to November 2022 – but unfortunately the dates for the Leicester Curve have not been rescheduled and so ticket holders should contact their point of purchase.

Beauty and the Beast features  Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, the musical includes the songs ‘Be Our Guest’ and of course ‘Beauty and the Beast’. It follows the story of of a young prince transformed into a beast who can only be saved by true love. His last chance comes in the form of Belle – the only human girl to visit the castle.

The musical production first premiered in the UK at the Dominion Theatre in 1997, while the piece’s Broadway run lasted from 1994 to 2007. It also had a UK tour in 2001.
