The Tony Award and BAFTA Award winning actor is to direct and star in the world premiere production of T.S Eliot’s epic poem.

It has been announced that Ralph Fiennes will direct and star in the world premiere production which is set to open at the Theatre Royal Bath from the 25th May until the 5th June and will launch the Royal & Derngate’s Made in Northampton season in the venue’s Royal auditorium from 8th – 12th June in a co-production between both venues.The production will then visit the Oxford Playhouse from 14th – 26th June and Cambridge Arts Theatre from 28 June – 10 July, with further regional touring dates to be announced.

Written in the later period of his life, T.S Eliot’s Four Quartets offers four meditations on the the nature of time, faith, and the quest for spiritual enlightenment. It was mainly written before World War II when the closure of playhouses during the Blitz interrupted Eliot’s work in theatre.

The production is set to include designs by Hildegard Bechtler , lighting design by Tim Lutkin and sound design by Christopher Shutt.

Ralph Fiennes’ stage credits include appearances in Antony and CleopatraRichard III and The Master Builder.
