The musical is set to resume performances at the Prince Edward Theatre later this year.

It has been announced that the Olivier Award production of Mary Poppins will begin performances once again in the West End on the 7th August.

With co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and direction by Richard Eyre, the musical will see the company led by Zizi Strallen as Mary Poppins’ and Charlie Stemp as Bert with full casting to be announced soon.

Based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the original Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins features original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman include the classic songs Jolly Holiday, Step in Time, Feed the Birds and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Meanwhile, the show also includes new songs and additional music are by the Olivier award-winning British team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.  Book is by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes and this production is co-created by Cameron Mackintosh.  The producer for Disney Theatrical Productions is Thomas Schumacher.

With tickets on sale now, Mary Poppins was the winner of Best Musical Revival at the 2020 Whatsonstage Awards and Best Set Design and Best Theatre Choreographer awards at the 2020 Olivier Awards.

The production features orchestrations by William David Brohn with dance and vocal arrangements by George Stiles. It has a new sound design by Paul Gatehouse and new lighting by Hugh Vanstone and Natasha Katz. Co-choreography is by Stephen Mear and the reimagined set and costume designs are by Bob Crowley.
