NEWS: Wicked the Musical Announces West End Return Date

The musical is set to resume performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre later this year.

The Tony and Olivier Award winning musical is set to resume performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre on the 15th September it has been announced.

Telling the untold story of the witches of Oz, Wicked the Musical is based on Gregory Maguire’s bestseller, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Directed by Joe Mantello and adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman, the production is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary in London this year.

Reimagining the backstory and future possibilities of the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz , Wicked reveals the events that help shape the destinies of two unlikely university friends on their journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. It features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (GodspellPippinThe Prince of Egypt; Disney’s PocahontasThe Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted), including songs such as ‘For Good’ and ‘Defying Gravity’.

While casting for the show’s return has yet to be announced, the creative team behind the production includes: musical staging by Wayne Cilento, set design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Meola. Wicked is produced around the world by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. Executive Producer (UK) Michael McCabe.

Tickets for Wicked the Musical are set to go on sale at 10am on the 17th May.
