The new musical based on the life and career of Bob Marley will begin performances at the Lyric Theatre on the 1st October.

New images have been released from the rehearsal workshop that took place in April, providing a first look of Arinze Kene, who is set to star as Bob Marley in the musical, which begins performances in the West End later this year.

Lively up yourself and celebrate the story of Jamaica’s global superstar, as the electrifying new production, Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, bursts into life from June 2021 at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. From the hills of rural Jamaica, armed only with his overwhelming talent and righteous beliefs, Bob Marley applied himself with resolute determination to achieve international acclaim for his prophetic musical message – a gospel of love and unity.

Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is written by Lee Hall and directed by Clint Dyer. The creative team for the production is set to include: choreography by Shelley Maxwell, musical supervision by Phil Bateman, set design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Charles Balfour, sound design by Tony Gayle, costume design by Lisa Duncan and video design Tal Yarden.

With unlimited access to Bob Marley’s catalogue, the musical is set to include the songs ‘Exodus’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, ‘Waiting in Vain’, ‘Three Little Birds’, ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘Could You Be Loved’ and ‘Redemption Song’.
