Rehearsal images have been released for Trevor Nunn’s upcoming production of Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, which will be playing at the Riverside Studios from the 11th June until the 25th July.
This 60th anniversary production sees director Trevor Nunn reuniting with actress Lisa Dwan following their collaboration on Eh Joe at Jermyn Street Theatre.
Winnie and her husband Willie are stuck in every sense of the word. Endless days and nights pass by while they struggle on, with only each other for company.
Winnie takes comfort in the monotony of her existence, passing the time by completing routine tasks, her blithe and buoyant manner allowing her to believe ‘another happy day’ is occurring. But ritual and a sunny disposition can only keep Winnie’s head above the parapet for so long, before the futility of her and Willie’s existence threatens to engulf her completely.
Lisa Dwan is familiar with performing Beckett’s work having performed in productions such as The Beckett Trilogy and No’s Knife. Her other credits include Not I and Beside the Sea.
The production will be taged in a Covid safe environment following government advice and adhering to social distancing guidelines. it also marks the first production from recently the relaunched Anthology Theatre Productions.
Happy Days will play at the Riverside Studios from the 11th June until the 25th July.
