The new musical based on the story of Sleeping Beauty will begin performances from the 4th December.
Initial casting has been confirmed for the National Theatre’s new musical Hex, based on the fairytale Sleeping Beauty and playing at the Olivier Theatre from this December.
It has been announced that Rosalie Craig, Tamsin Carroll, Kat Ronney and Michael Elcock will lead the company. They will be joined by Esme Bacalla-Hayes, Madeline Charlemagne, Tamsin Dowsett, Eleanor Kane and Daisy Maywood.
Deep in the wood, a lonely fairy longs for someone to bless.When she is summoned to the palace to help the princess sleep, her dream turns into a nightmare and her blessing becomes a curse.Soon, she is plunged into a frantic, hundred-year quest to somehow make everything right.
This new twist on the classic fairytale will feature a book by Tanya Ronder, music by Jim Fortune and lyrics by Rufus Norris.
Supported by the Genesis Foundation through the Genesis Music Theatre Programme, the musical is set to include: orchestrations by Simon Hale, music supervision by Marc Tritschler, music direction by Tarek Merchant, lighting design by Paul Anderson, choreography by Jade Hackett with consultant choreography by Bill Deamer and sound design by Simon Baker.
Hex will play at the National Theatre from the 4th December until the 22nd January 2022.
