Searchlight Pictures have announced the UK release date for Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley as being the 21st January 2022.
When charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena and her has-been mentalist husband Pete at a travelling carnival, he crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society. With the virtuous Molly loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist who might be his most formidable opponent yet.
This new film stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen and David Strathairn.
Nightmare Alley features a screenplay by Guillermo del Toro and Kim Morgan having been adapted from William Lindsay Gresham’s novel. The novel was originally released in 1946 and follows the story about a
charismatic huckster consumed by uncontrolled ambition.
