The new film about the beloved film actress and humanitarian is set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino.
It has been announced that the Oscar nominated (for her performance in Todd Haynes’s romance Carol) actress Rooney Mara is set to play Audrey Hepburn in a new film about the actress, written by Michael Mitnick.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, this new biopic sees the director collaborating once more with Mitnick, with whom he worked with on the 2019 short The Staggering Girl. The film is set to be released through Apple, with Apple Studios is producing.
Having grown up through Nazi occupation, Audrey Hepburn originally aspired to becoming a ballet dancer, but was soon discovered and ended up in the world of films. She is best known for her performances in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady, and winning an Oscar for her breakthrough role in Roman Holiday – but she is also well known for her humanitarian work with UNICEF in later part of her career. She spent many of her final years traveling across the globe to try and help raise awareness and help make change and cause action in order to help the poverty crisis in some of the poorest countries.
During her career, Hepburn was nominated for five Oscars and became a fashion icon that won her legions of fans during her lifetime and beyond.
In addition to her Oscar nominated role in Carol, Rooney Mara has previously starred in David Fincher’s remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Lion, Her and Mary Magdalene.
Further details about the film have yet to be confirmed.
