The musical based on the life of fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier will take up residence at the venue for a limited season of 52 shows.
It has been confirmed that Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show, celebrating 50 years of pop culture, will be performed at London’s Roundhouse from the 15th July until the 28th August.
Welcome to the all-singing, all-dancing, costume-filled spectacle that tells the story of one of the most innovative designers alive today, Jean Paul Gaultier. Explosive fashion show and revue all wrapped into one, Fashion Freak Show is a feast for the senses. Gorge yourself on an extraordinary production of actors, dancers, circus artists as they take to the stage in an outlandish, passionate and larger than life fashion.
Featuring music that ranges from Disco to Funk, from Pop to Rock and New Wave and Punk, the show has a playlist of hits which have inspired the artist throughout his life.
Talking about the news, Jean Paul Gaultier said: “I’m so thrilled that my Fashion Freak Show will be returning to London to take up residence at the Roundhouse. After a two-year hiatus, I cannot think of a better place to celebrate the return of the show than my favourite city. London is dear to my heart and has always been a constant source of inspiration. I have been coming here since my youth and have been greatly influenced by British music, theatre and cinema throughout my career from ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ through Punk and New Wave – and I keep coming back. I hope that audiences will enjoy the show as much as I did creating it.”
Fashion Freak Show originally premiered with a run in Paris in 2019 at the legendary Folies Bergère and has been updated and reimagined for the Roundhouse to be staged with a catwalk.
Tickets for Fashion Freak Show go on sale to Roundhouse members on Wednesday 23rd February, priority sign-up on Thursday 24th February and general sale on Friday 25th February at 12 noon.
