NEWS: Daniel Radcliffe to Star in Merrily We Roll Along at New York Theatre Workshop

It has been confirmed that the musical will complete the company’s 2022/23 Season.

It has been announced that Daniel Radcliffe will return to the stage to star in a new production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along to play at the New York Theatre Workshop.

Based on the  original play by George S. Kaufman  & Moss Hart, Merrily We Roll Along spans three decades in the entertainment business and charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends – writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley. Daniel Radcliffe is set to play the role of Charley Kringas. Further casting has yet to be announced.

This production is directed by Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman and choreographed by Tim Jackson and is being presented by special arrangement with Sonia Friedman Productions, the Menier Chocolate Factory and Patrick Catullo. this production was first seen at the Menier Chocolate Factory, before transferring to the Harold Pinter Theatre and winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical.

The announcement of Merrily We Roll Along joins the previously announced Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters, in a new adaptation by Pulitzer Prize finalist Clare Barron , directed by Tony Award winner and  Sam Gold (Othello, Fun Home); american (tele)visions by Tow Playwright-in-Residence Victor I. Cazares, directed by Rubén Polendo, How to Defend Yourself by Liliana Padilla (Born 1000 Times), and The Half-God of Rainfall by Inua Ellams (Barber Shop Chronicles) as the New York Theatre Workshop 2022/23 season.
