We chatted to Pete about starring in the newly re-imagined version of Zorro the Musical at Charing Cross Theatre.
Hi Pete, could you tell me more about what we can expect from Zorro the Musical? Fabulous music, brilliant dance, and a passionate exciting story. So pretty much everything you could wish for.
How does it feel to be part of this production? I feel very privileged to be part of Zorro. The production has a wonderful passion and spirit already and to be amongst so many talented performers and creatives is a real pleasure.
Could you tell me more about your character Don Alejandro? Don Alejandro is the leader, the Alcalde, of the small pueblo of Los Angeles in the early 1820s, where the task of keeping order and fostering prosperity in the small, fragile society is a constant battle. His two sons, Diego and Ramon are his hearts focus but he is often out of his depth in family matters that can’t be ruled with the same exacting strength he employs as Alcalde.
What do you like the most about this musical? The beautiful skill of the performers. It’s a joy. The interweaving storylines rooted in love, desire and grief build a beautiful, simply human narrative.
What is the show like musically? Passionate, vibrant, and visceral. It is the music of the Gypsy Kings, full of heart and urgency.
How would you describe Zorro the Musical? A vibrant celebration of life, with stunning music and dance and absolutely fantastic fights!
