The theatre has confirmed this year’s pantomime will be a production of Mother Goose.

To mark the 120th anniversary, the Hackney Empire will present Mother Goose as its 2022 pantomine which itself was performed 120 years ago. It will play at the theatre from the 19th November until the 31st December. Tickets are on sale now.

Meanwhile, it was also announced that in what will be his 15th pantomime at Hackney Empire, Olivier award-winning panto Clive Rowe will direct and star as the Dame, Mother Goose. Further casting and creative team for the production have yet to be announced.

Talking about the news, Clive Rowe said: ” I’m incredibly proud, in Hackney Empire’s 120th birthday year, to be directing and playing Mother Goose, which was first created for music hall legend Dan Leno 120 years ago. Big shoes to fill but I will do my very best to make the walls shake with the love and laughter we’ve come to expect from Hackney’s pantomime.”
