The musical continues to play at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
New casting has been announced for the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge!, based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film. Taking over the role of Satine will be Ashley Loren, who has played the role over 100 performances as alternate since the production opened in 2019. Derek Klena, most recently nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Jagged Little Pill, will take on the role of Christian, with Declan Bennett, who previously appeared on Broadway in Rent and American Idiot, will play The Duke of Monroth. Original Moulin Rouge! The Musical cast member Caleb Marshall-Villarreal will play Santiago.
They will be taking over the roles from Natalie Mendoza, Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit, Tam Mutu and Ricky Rojas will play their final performances on the 8th May 2022.

Having won 10 Tony Awards, Moulin Rouge! is directed by Alex Timbers, with the creative team also including a book by John Logan (Tony Award for Red, three-time Academy Award nominee, including for Gladiator and The Aviator), choreography by Sonya Tayeh (Lucille Lortel Award and Obie Award for Kung Fu, and Emmy winner), and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). The musical also features set design by Derek McLane, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Peter Hylenski, hair and wig design by David Brian Brown and make up design by Sarah Cimino.
