It has been announced that Netflix’s upcoming film adaptation of Jane Austen’s last novel will be heading to the streaming service on the 15th July. Directed by acclaimed theatre director Carrie Cracknell (Sea Wall/A Life) , making her film directing debut, the film is set to star Dakota Johnson as Anne Elliott, Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) as Mr Elliott and Cosmo Jarvis (Lady Macbeth) as Captain Wentworth.

This modern day adaptation of the story will also include Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Loki), Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch),  Mia McKenna-Bruce (The Witcher), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Avenue 5).

Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Fredrick Wentworth—the dashing one she once sent away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.

A full trailer for the film has yet to be released.
