Hi June, for those who don’t know – what is A Doll’s House, Part 2 about? A Doll’s House, Part 2 takes place 15 years after the finish of Henrik Ibsen’s play. It is not at all necessary to know Ibsen’s play – all you need to know is that Part 2 is about the return of Nora, the wife, who deserted her husband and children at the end of the original play. In this follow up, she meets with her husband, one of the children and her old nanny.

What was it about Lucas Hnath’s play that caught your attention? Its modernity and its humour. The play also has three marvellous parts for women.

How does it feel to be bringing this production to the Donmar Warehouse? I am delighted to be in this play at the Donmar – a theatre I am performing at for the first time in a career of 66 years.

You have had such an amazing theatre career – what do you love about performing on stage? My roots are in the theatre. For the first ten years of my career, it was theatre only. Of course, I have done film and a lot of TV but I’m always pleased to perform in front of a live audience.

How has work been going on the production so far? So far, the work is intense, stimulating and progressing well. I am really enjoying it!
