NEWS: Winnie the Pooh the Musical to Receive UK Premiere in 2023

The beloved bear and his friends will be heading to the UK stage in 2023 it has been announced.

Featuring music by The Sherman Brothers and created and directed by Jonathan Rockefeller, the new musical stage adaptation based on the characters created by  A.A. Milne will be heading to the UK next year. Presented by Rockefeller Productions, in partnership with ROYO, and in association with Disney Theatrical Productions, full details of the production and where it will take place have yet to be announced.

Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood, a new adventure is about to happen.  A.A. Milne’s beloved characters, Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and their best friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit and Owl (and Tigger too!), will all arrive on stage in a beautifully-crafted musical stage adaptation.

Accompanying the new story will be an original score by Nate Edmondson, featuring some of the Grammy award-winning songs written by the Sherman Brothers for the original animated features, including Winnie the Pooh, The Blustery Day, The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers and Whoop-De-Dooper Bounce, plus A.A. Milne’s The More It Snows (featuring music by Carly Simon) and Sing Ho in a new arrangement.

Talking about the production, Jonathan Rockefeller, creator of Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation said: “The music, the life-size puppets, and the charming performances are the perfect way to introduce (or re-introduce) audiences to live theatre, and this is a must-see show for Winnie the Pooh fans of all ages. I am thrilled to be entrusted to bring this celebrated character to the stage for new audiences as they join our adventure into the Hundred Acre Wood.”

This musical adaptation made its debut in New York in 2021 to strong reviews from critics. It is heading out on tour across the US this Autumn.
