Andrew Lloyd Webber has announced that his latest musical Bad Cinderella will be heading to Broadway next year.

It has been announced that the musical will open for previews at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre on the 17th February 2023, with Linedy Genao taking on the title role and with further casting yet to be announced.
Having previously performed in the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre, Bad Cinderella is set in the kingdom Belleville and sees Cinderella not as a damsel in distress, but as someone set out to make her own way in the world. The title single ‘Bad Cinderella’, recorded by Linedy Genao has been released today.
In addition to music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bad Cinderella features a book by Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell and lyrics by Tony and Olivier Award winner David Zippel. The creative team is also set to include choreographer JoAnn M.Hunter and direction by Laurence Connor.
Talking about the news, Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I am thrilled and delighted that we are bringing Bad Cinderella to the Imperial Theatre. We have been working hard on a few new songs for our Broadway opening and, with such a brilliant team, led by the spectacular Linedy, I know this is going to be really special.”
Meanwhile Linedy Genao said: “I have been dreaming about originating a leading role on Broadway for just about my entire life, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine achieving that dream alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber and such an incredible team of collaborators. As a proud Dominican American, I am most excited about this opportunity to represent my community and show the world that fairy tales do come true – and are for everybody. My heart is bursting.”
Further information about the production will be coming soon.
