NEWS: Full Cast Announced for Merrily We Roll Along at the New York Theatre Workshop

The production is set to begin previews in November.

Full casting has been announced for the upcoming New York revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s musical, directed by Maria Friedman which will open for previews on the 21st November.

The cast is led by Daniel Radcliffe as Charley, Jonathan Groff as Franklin, and Lindsay Mendez as Mary. They will be joined in the production by Krystal Joy Brown as Gussie, Katie Rose Clarke as Beth, Reg Rogers as Joe, Sherz Aletaha, Leana Rae Concepcion, Carter Harris, Colin Keane, Morgan Kirner, Corey Mach, Talia Robinson, Amanda Rose, Jamila Sabares-Klemm, Brian Sears, Evan Alexander Smith, Christian Strange, Koray Tarhan, Vishal Vaidya, Natalie Wachen, and Jacob Keith Watson.

Spanning three decades in the entertainment business, Merrily We Roll Along charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends — writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley.

This production was originally seen at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory, before it transferred to the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre and went on to win an Olivier Award for Best Musical. Merrily We Roll Along features music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, a book by George Furth, and is based on the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.

The creative team behind this production also includes:  Catherine Jayes (The Color Purple) as music supervisor and Alvin Hough, Jr. (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) as music director, with scenic & costume design by Soutra Gilmour (& Juliet), lighting design by Amith Chandrashaker (The Lucky Ones), and sound design by Kai Harada (Mr. Saturday Night). Casting is by Jim Carnahan, CSA & Jason Thinger, CSA, with additional casting by Taylor Williams. Dave Anzuelo (The Great Society) will serve as fight & intimacy director, with Jhanaë K-C Bonnick (Slave Play) as stage manager.

Merrily We Roll Along will play at the New York Theatre Workshop from the 21st November until the 8th January 2023.
