The Tony Award winning production will play at the Dominion Theatre from the 20th January.

It has been confirmed that the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical will return to the West End for a limited six week run from the 20th January until the 2nd March 2024.

The return of the musical to London will also see Call the Midwife star Helen George reprise her role as Anna, while Darren Lee will star as The King with further casting yet to be announced.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the musical follows the story of Anna, a widowed British schoolteacher who is hired by the King of Siam to help modernise his country. It includes the classic songs “Getting to Know You,” “Whistle a Happy Tune”, and “Shall We Dance.”

The creative team behind this production includes: sets by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, and orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett. The musical supervision is by Stephen Ridley, and the casting direction is by James Orange.

Talking about the news, Helen George said: “I am so delighted to continue to play the formidable Anna Leonowens in this incredible production of The King and I. I have really enjoyed playing such an incredibly strong character whilst on tour, but to play her on the West End stage is an honour.”
