NEWS: Shakespeare’s Globe Announces Cast for The Comedy of Errors

The production will run at the theatre from the 12th May 2023.

The Shakespeare’s Globe has announced casting for its upcoming production of The Comedy of Errors, playing at the theatre from the 12th May until the 29th July 2023.

Directed by Globe Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes, the production is set to star: Claire Benedict as Abbess, Matthew Broome as Antipholus of Ephesus, Philip Cumbus as Duke / Pinch, Michael Elcock as Antipholus of Syracuse, George Fouracres as Dromio of Ephesus, Laura Hanna as Adriana, Hari MacKinnon as Angelo, Jordan Metcalfe as Dromio of Syracuse, Phoebe Naughton as Courtesan / First Merchant / Balthazar, Danielle Phillips as Luce / Second Merchant / Messenger, Paul Rider as Egeon, and Jessica Whitehurst as Luciana.

Two sets of twins are separated by a shipwreck and end up in rival cities. After twenty years apart, they inadvertently cross paths and set in motion a series of chaotic events that hurtles towards an extraordinary finale.Seeing isn’t always believing…

This new production of the play continues Shakespeare’s Globe’s 400th Anniversary celebrations of the First Folio, without which the play would have been lost to history.

The creative team for The Comedy of Errors includes: Naeem Hayat (Associate Director), Grant Olding (Composer), Megan Cassidy (Costume Supervisor), Jackie Orton (Costume Supervisor), Paul Wills (Designer), Maisie Carter (Fight Director), Glynn MacDonald (Globe Associate – Movement) and Tamsin Hurtado Clarke (Movement Director).
