Here’s a guide to a few shows we recommend that you book to see this week….
Dirty Dancing, Dominion Theatre: booking until the 29th April, this is your final opportunity to catch the musical in the West End! Experience the classic film on stage, filled with songs and of course plenty of dancing, check out whether we had the time of our lives when we paid a visit here.
A Street Car Named Desire: Phoenix Theatre: having won several Olivier Awards this year, Rebecca Frecknall’s production is one of the hottest tickets in London at the moment. Starring Paul Mescal, Patsy Ferran and Anjana Vasan, this critically acclaimed production is the latest show to transfer from the Almeida Theatre. If some of the ticket prices are a little out of your range, you can either enter the online lottery or visit the theatre’s box office on the day of the performance to get your hands on a last minute ticket.
A Little Life, Harold Pinter Theatre: this epic staging of Hanya Yanagihara’s novel is a difficult but powerful watch. Here at Love London Love Culture we were mesmerised by the performances and the striking way in which it brings difficult issues to the stage (please check for trigger warnings before booking a ticket). If you don’t manage to get tickets for the run at the Harold Pinter Theatre, fret not as it will be moving into the Savoy Theatre for a strictly limited five week run from the 4th July 2023.
Only Fools and Horses the Musical, Theatre Royal Haymarket: sadly departing the West End this month is this hilarious musical based on the classic sitcom, booking until the 29th April. We were pleasantly surprised by it when we went to see it as it managed to capture the spirit of the show and its characters perfectly. If you are in need of a good laugh – then make sure that you don’t miss out!
Winnie the Pooh the Musical, Riverside Studios: for something family friendly, head along to the Riverside studios to see Winnie the Pooh and friends making their stage debut in the UK in this musical which has transferred from Broadway. Ain’t Too Proud, Prince Edward Theatre: from the creators of hit musical Jersey Boys, comes this new musical that brings to life the story and career of The Temptations from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Featuring hit songs such as My Girl, Just My Imagination, Get Ready, Papa Was a Rolling Stone – this is set to be an entertaining night out!
Eugenius, Turbine Theatre: calling all fans of superheroes and comic books! Eugenius is back in London to capture the imagination of audiences in this newly reworked production directed by Hannah Chissick. Following the adventures of one boy whose love of comic books and superheroes soon take him to Hollywood, it is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. Check out our review here.
