The festival is set to run from the 16th to the 27th May 2023.

The 2023 festival has announced the line up of films that will be showcased at this year’s festival, set to open on the 16th May.
It has been confirmed that films by Jonathan Glazer, Ken Loach and Martin Scorsese will all premiere as part of this year’s festival, the programme of which was announced at a press conference in Paris today (13th April) .
Announced by general delegate Thierry Frémaux and incoming president Iris Knobloch, the programme is filled with arthouse heavyweights and returning Cannes favourites, such as Todd Haynes, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Wim Wenders, Wes Anderson, Nanni Moretti, Aki Kaurismäki and Nuri Bilge Ceylan. This year’s festival will also feature reord beaking six films from female directors in competition, including new titles from Catherine Breillat, Alice Rohrwacher and Jessica Hausner all to be included as part of the line up.
The event is set to be led by the premiere of Jeanne du Barry, directed by and starring Maïwenn in the title role, opposite Johnny Depp as Louis XV.
Jonathan Glazer’s first film since 2013’s Under the Skin is a new adaptation of Martin Amis’s The Zone of Interest, about a Nazi officer who falls in love with the wife of the commander of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Meanwhile, Ken Loach’s latest film The Old Oak, is set around the last remaining pub in a small mining village in the north-east. He co-wrote the film alongside his regular writer Paul Laverty.
Martin Scorsese’s new film Killers of the Flowers Moon is a 1920’s set crime drama about the Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Brendan Fraser and John Lithgow.
The festival’s line up is also set to include the previously announced Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the new adventure for Harrison Ford’s character which also co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen.It is in the blockbuster spot in the programme.
Wes Anderson’s new offering Asteroid City is a sci-fi tinged story set at a junior cadet convention in the mid-1950s United States. It is set to star Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson.
Club Zero, is directed by Jessica Hausner and stars Mia Wasikowska as a teacher at an international boarding school. The cast also includes: Sidse Babett Knudsen, Elsa Zylberstein and Amir El-Masry.

Last year’s Palme d’Or was won by Triangle of Sadness, Ruben Östlund’s yacht-set satire on the super-rich. This year the writer and director will head the festival’s jury.
