NEWS: Hadestown Announces West End Dates & Venue

It has been confirmed that the Tony and Grammy award winning musical will make its West End debut next year.

It has been announced that following its run at the National Theatre in 2018, Anaïs Mitchell’s musical is set to return to London, heading to the West End’s Lyric Theatre from the 10th February 2024.

Featuring music, lyrics and book by acclaimed Grammy winning singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown  began as an indie theatre project and acclaimed album.  Mitchell then transformed the show into a genre-defying new musical alongside artistic collaborator and Tony Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin.

The musical brings together two mythic love stories – that of Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone – with both on a journey to the underworld and back.

Hadestown opened in 2016 at the New York Theatre Workshop before a production in Edmonton, Canada, and its sold-out run at the National Theatre in 2018. The show then premiered at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater, winning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The creative team behind the production includes: Rachel Hauck as set designer, four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Krass as costume designer, two-time Tony Award-winner Bradley King as lighting designer, Tony Award-winners Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz as sound designer, and Obie Award-winner and choreography by Chita Rivera Award-winner David Neumann.

Tickets will go on general sale on the 23rd May at 12pm. To sign up for more information and to sign up for priority tickets visit: https://uk.hadestown.com/
