Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

The film sees director Yorgos Lanthimos reuniting with Emma Stone, who is set to star in this adaptation of Alasdair Gray’s novel as Bella Baxter. The film also stars Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo,  Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley and Kathryn Hunter.

Scripted by Tony McNamara, the film is set to be released by Searchlight Pictures in time for a Venice Film Festival debut. Those behind the film include: cinematography by Robbie Ryan and costume design by Holly Waddington.

The film marks the first film in half-a-decade break since The Favourite for Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos.
