Principal photography is set to begin in early June on The Salt Path, based on Raynor Winn’s global bestselling memoir.
Adapted for film by by BAFTA award nominee Rebecca Lenkiewicz (She Said, Small Axe) and directed by Marianne Elliott (Company, War Horse) as her directorial feature film debut, The Salt Path is set to star two-time Emmy award-winning actress Gillian Anderson (The Crown, Sex Education) and multi-award winning actor Jason Isaacs (The Harry Potter films, The Death of Stalin).
The Salt Path is the profound true story of husband and wife, Raynor and Moth Winn’s 630-mile trek along the beautiful but rugged Cornish, Devon and Dorset coastline. After being forcibly removed from their home, they make the desperate decision to keep walking in the hope that, in nature, they will find solace and a sense of acceptance. With depleted resources and only a tent and the bare essentials between them, every step along the path is a testament to their growing strength and determination. The Salt Path is a journey that is exhilarating, challenging, and liberating in equal measure. A portrayal of home and how it can be lost and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways.
This new film is being produced by Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley for Number 9 Films (Living, Carol) and Lloyd Levin and Beatriz Levin for Shadowplay Features (The Mauritanian, Da 5 Bloods). Meanwhile, joining Marianne Elliott for her feature film debut includes director of photography Hélène Louvart, winner of the Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival (Firebrand, Never Rarely Sometimes Always),costume designer Matthew Price (Everything I Know About Love, The Nest), hair and make up designer Emily Bilverstone (No Time to Die, Sex Education) and production designer Christina Moore (A Very British Scandal), with casting by Dixie Chassay (Persuasion, The Favorite).
