The gala performance took place ahead of the musical’s official opening at the Winter Garden Theatre on the 3rd August.
Images from the gala performance of the Broadway production of Back to the Future the Musical which took place on the 25th July have been released, ahead of its official opening next week.
Those in attendance of the performance included original Marty McFly and Doc Brown from the hit films, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, plus co-stars Lea Thompson, Don Fullilove, Harry Waters Jr., Marc McClure and James Tolkan. Also in attendance was Stephen Spielberg, Huey Lewis, Bernadette Peters and creators of Back to the Future Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, alongside many others.
Marty McFly is a rock ‘n’ roll teenager who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-travelling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr Emmett Brown. But before he can return to 1985, Marty must make sure his high school-aged parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.
The Broadway cast includes Casey Likes as Marty McFly, Original West End cast members Roger Bart and Hugh Coles as Doc Brown and George McFly respectively, Liana Hunt as Lorraine McFly, Jelani Remi as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff, Merritt David Janes as Strickland and Mikaela Secada as Jennifer.
The musical, based on the hit 1980’s films, first opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in September 2021 to critical acclaim alongside Olivier, WhatsOnStage and Broadway World awards including Best New Musical.
Back to the Future the Musical features a book by Bob Gale with music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode. It is directed by Award-winning director John Rando. It is currently booking until 11th February 2024 in London and 25th February 2024 on Broadway.
