Rehearsal images have been released of the new cast for the critically acclaimed production.
The new images released show BRIT Award Winning artist Jake Shears who will play The Emcee and Mercury Prize Nominated, BRIT Award winning Rebecca Lucy Taylor who will play Sally Bowles along with other members of the new cast in rehearsal ahead of joining the production from the 25th September.
Shears and Taylor join Nathan Ives-Moiba as Clifford Bradshaw, Beverley Klein as Fraulein Schneider and Teddy Kempner as Herr Schultz.
Meanwhile, also joining the cast from later this month will be Wilf Scolding as Ernst Ludwig, Jessica Kirton as Fraulein Kost/Fritzie, Liv Alexander as Texas, Natalie Chua as Frenchie, Taite-Elliot Drew as Hans, Damon Gould as Victor, El Haq Latief as Helga, and Travis Ross as Bobby, joining Laura Delany as Rosie, Grant Neal as Herman/Max and Hicaro Nicolai as Lulu. The cast is completed by Rebecca Lisewski, Ela Lisondra, Nic Myers, Andy Rees, Toby Turpin and Patrick Wilden.
From the 16th October, the prologue company will consist of Rachel Benson, Ami Benton, Onyemachi Ejimofor, Joseph Hardy, Liz Kamille, Andrew Linnie, Aine McLoughlin, Jack William Parry, Jazmyn Raikes, Oliver Stockley and Ena Yamaguchi.
Directed by Rebecca Frecknall, this production of Cabaret opened at the transformed Playhouse Theatre in December 2021, going on to win seven Olivier Awards in 2022. A Broadway production is set to open at the August Wilson Theatre next year.
The musical is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff. It includes the songs Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and the title number.
The creative team behind the production includes: set and costume design by Tom Scutt, choreography by Julia Cheng. Musical supervision by Jennifer Whyte and musical direction by Ben Ferguson with lighting design by Isabella Byrd and sound design by Nick Lidster. The casting director is Stuart Burt and the associate director is Jordan Fein. The prologue composer and musical director is Angus MacRae.
