Titled Just For One Day, the musical will have a limited run at the theatre from the 26 January to 30 March 2024.

It has been announced that Live Aid, the concert which saw 70 artists perform, for free, in London and Philadelphia to help raise money for famine relief, is being transformed into a new musical, with permission from the Band Aid Charitable Trust. The focus will be on how Live Aid came to be.

This new musical will feature the songs of Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Pretenders, The Cars, Status Quo, Paul Weller, Sade, The Boomtown Rats, Bryan Adams, Diana Ross, Ultravox and more.

The cast of Just For One Day will include Julie Atherton (Avenue Q), Ashley Campbell (Company), Jackie Clune (Emilia), Craige Els (Matilda the Musical), James Hameed (Eugenius!), Naomi Katiyo (What’s New Pussycat?), Hope Kenna (Wendy and Peter Pan), Freddie Love (But I’m A Cheerleader), Emily Ooi (Miss Saigon) and Rhys Wilkinson (& Juliet) with further casting to be announced soon.

Political unrest, social revolution, boom and bust. In a decade of neon and noise, one moment made the world stand still and brought 1.5 billion people together – and they all have a story to tell about ‘the day rock ‘n’ roll changed the world’.

Just For One Day has been written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten!) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things), with the creative team also including: musical supervision, arrangements and orchestration by Matthew Brind, choreography by Ebony Molina, set by Soutra Gilmour, costume by Fay Fullerton, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound by Gareth Owen, video and animation by Andrzej Goulding and casting by Stuart Burt CDG.

It has also been confirmed that ten percent  from the sale of every ticket for the musical will donated to the Band Aid Trust to support their ongoing global relief efforts.

The show is supported by Jamie Wilson Productions, Kevin McCollum, Sonia Friedman Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, Kenny Wax Ltd and the Ambassador Theatre Group.
