The film is set to be released in cinemas on the 17th January 2024.
A trailer has been released for the upcoming film adaptation based on the Broadway musical, film and book has been released.
The cast for the film includes: Angourie Rice (Spiderman: Far From Home) will play Cady, with Auli’i Cravalho (Moana in Moana) as Janice, and Jaquel Spivey (leading star in A Strange Loop on Broadway) as Damian. Returning from the original film are Tina Fey (Ms Norbury) and Tim Meadows (Principal Duval), while Renée Rapp, who played the role of Regina George on Broadway will take on the role in the film.
They are joined by Avantika (Senior Year) as Karen, Bebe Wood (Love, Victor) as Gretchen, Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty) as Aaron, Jenna Fischer (The Office) as Cady’s Mum Mrs Heron, Busy Philips (White Chicks) as Regina’s Mum Mrs George. Also involved is Ashley Park (Emily in Paris) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men).
This new film is directed by Arturo Perez Jr and Samantha Jayne, marking their first full-length film.
Mean Girls is overseen by producers Paramount Players alongside Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey. Fey has penned the script, with music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin with choreography by Kyle Hanagami.
