The Guardian: ***** ” Taylor convinces as a poetic dreamer, goofball and fervent nation-builder – a man realising his own potential as he strives to do the same for his country.”

The Reviews Hub: **** 1/2 “Hamilton is really an almost flawless piece of theatre. From the very start its pacy live score, stunning direction, choreography (Andy Blankenbuehler) and lighting (Howell Binkley) come together to create something you can’t take your eyes off.”

WhatsOnStage: ***** “Its triumph is also demonstrating a mainstream musical phenomenon can be complex rather than undemanding. Hamilton remains a megaton musical achievement.”

Cheshire Live: ***** “The daunting task of stepping into the shoes of Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton himself is Shaq Taylor who expertly handles one of the most well-developed characters in musical theatre, bringing out his frankly rather unlikeable brash arrogance early on before showing us the brave but frustrated soldier, the ambitious and innovative politician as well as the devoted but deeply flawed husband and father. It is a commanding performance worthy of a production of this stature.”

Mini Travellers.co.uk: “The character of Eliza, played by Maya Britto, is impossible not to adore. As Hamilton’s steadfast and enduring wife, she stands by him unwaveringly. Her narrative alone deserves its own spotlight, and Britto executes the role flawlessly. Daniel Boys, portraying King George, injects a refreshing touch of humor into the production.”

The Manc.com: “Of the touring cast in Manchester, Shaq Taylor is astonishing in the lead role of Hamilton, while Billy Nevers nails his split role between Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson through charisma and comic timing.”

British Theatre Guide: “this is a very slick, impressive show from director Thomas Kail (UK associate director Stephen Whitson) with imaginative choreography from Andy Blankenbuehler (UK associate choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille) that finds a well-suited style of its own. There are some great touches to a complex lighting design from the late Howell Binkley, and the sound is crystal clear, not often the case at the Palace, for which head of production sound for the tour Josh Richardson probably deserves at least as much credit as original sound designer Nevin Steinberg.”

The Bolton News.co.uk:***** “It’s very rare you see a show where absolutely everything works. But this version of Hamilton is impossible to fault.”
