We take a look at some exciting books to keep an eye out for next year!

Medea by Rosie Hewlett: now we can’t resist a Greek mythology re-telling and Medea’s story is probably one of the most fascinating as well as horrifying stories to be told. It will be interesting to see how Hewlett portrays Medea as a character and what fresh new light she is able to give to her story. It is set to be published on the 21st March 2024.

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher: the endurance and intrigue of re-visiting fairytales created by the Grimm Brothers has been displayed through a variety of books over the years. This one has caught my attention as apparently it comes with “rife with secrets, murder, and forbidden magic” – all things that intrigue me in a good read. Based on the Brothers Grimm’s Goose Girl, it is sure to be a dark and mysterious read.

Funny Story by Emily Henry: while to date I have only managed to read one of her books so far, I love the way in which Emily Henry offers a romantic story but makes it believable and relatable to a modern reader. Published on the 25th April 2024, this new book follows the story of two wronged exes formulating a plan to make their former partners lives miserable by becoming room mates.
Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid: published in August next year, Ava Reid re-examines Shakespeare’s play while giving Lady Macbeth more of a voice to transform her story. It will be fascinating to read what she does for this notorious character.

Diva by Daisy Goodwin: writer and television producer Daisy Goodwin has a real flair of bringing those who existed in history to life and having enjoyed her previous novels including ‘The Fortune Hunter’ and ‘My Last Duchess’, I am intrigued to see how she brings to life Maria Callas’s story. It is set to be released on the 14th March 2024.

The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins: published on the 4th January 2024, this new novel filled with family secrets and intrigue, is the latest novel from the author of books such as ‘The Kiss Curse’ and ‘The Wife Upstairs’. I do love an element of mystery encapsulated through family secrets and from reading the plot of this one – it sounds thoroughly engaging.
