NEWS: National Theatre Announces Additional Shows for 2024

All of the productions will have a 6:30pm start as pat of the theatre’s ongoing trial to try and provide flexibility for audiences.

The National Theatre has confirmed its summer 2024 plans, with new productions heading to each of its three stages.

James Graham’s Boys from the Blackstuff, based on Alan Bleasdale’s acclaimed TV show will head to the Olivier stage from the 22nd May following its run at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre. This London transfer will star original cast members George Caple, Dominic Carter, Helen Carter, Aron Julius, Nathan McMullen, Lauren O’Neil, Barry Sloane, and Mark Womack and is directed by  Kate Wasserberg.

Meanwhile, Complicité’s Mnemonic, conceived by Simon McBurney will return to the National Theatre, playing at the Olivier Theatre from the 22nd June and featuring original company members Richard Katz and Kostas Philippoglou in the cast.

From the 11th July, Katori Hall’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy The Hot Wing King will make its UK premiere in the Dorfman Theatre. Direct by Roy Alexander Weise, the cast is set to be led by Kadiff Kirwan.

The final production to be announced as part of the National Theatre’s summer season is a new production of Frank Galati’s Tony Award-winning adaptation of  The Grapes of Wrath, which will run at the Lyttelton Theatre from the 17th July. It is set to be directed by Carrie Cracknell, with the cast set to include Cherry Jones as Ma Joad.
