Love London Love Culture’s Emma Clarendon chats to Carole about starring in the London production of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical…

How does it feel to be part of bringing Tina Turner’s story to life? It feels wonderful to be part of the West End company telling the story of an iconic and inspiring pop
icon.
When did you first become aware of Tina Turner as a singer? I’ve been aware of Tina throughout my childhood. I have always admired how electrifying she is as a
performer. I didn’t realise at the time she was in her 40s!
Do you have any favourite songs in the show you get to perform? I don’t get to sing this song but I really love Fight No More. For me it sums up Tina’s transition into
the powerful and tenacious woman she was.

What was it initially that made you want to be part of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical? I loved the music and I loved how inspirational Tina’s story was.
What do you enjoy the most about being part of the show? I enjoy playing Tina’s mother and trying to understand why or even if she felt justified in how she treated Tina.
For those yet to see it – what would be your top reason for coming along to see Tina? This show really takes you on a ride with twists and turns. You will be laughing and crying and you’ll definitely leave feeling invigorated and inspired. It’s sensational and a must see!
