The new tour is set to open at Milton Keynes Theatre on 12 October 2024.
David Ian for Crossroads Live in association with Barry and Fran Weissler have confirmed that additional dates have been added for the upcoming UK & Ireland tour of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s musical.
Following its run in Milton Keynes, the production will visit: Bradford, Newcastle, Manchester, Dartford, Southampton, Stoke, Aberdeen, Cheltenham, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Oxford, Southend, Dublin, Belfast, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Truro, Cardiff, Bristol, Wimbledon, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Hull, Eastbourne, Norwich, Blackpool, Woking , Sunderland, Crawley, and Glasgow.
Set in the 1920’s the musical follows the story of Roxie Hart a housewife who murders her lover after he walks out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she enlists the help of lawyer Billy Flynn to help fool the jury, media and of course her rival Velma Kelly into fooling them of her innocence.
Created by John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, the score includes memorable songs such as “Razzle Dazzle”, “Cell Block Tango”, and “All That Jazz”.
The musical is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1996 Broadway revival of Chicago was choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse, directed by Walter Bobbie, and produced by Barry and Fran Weissler.
