NEWS: Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends to Transfer to Broadway

The news follows a successful run in the West End.

It has been confirmed that the musical revue will be heading to Braodway’s Samuel J Friedman Theatre on the 25th March 2025, with a prior engagement at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

The revue is based on a Sondheim tribute concert that ran in London in 2022, devised by Cameron Mackintosh and presented with Mackintosh and Daryl Roth.

Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends is directed by Matthew Bourne, along with Julia McKenzie, with choreography by Stephen Mear.

In addition, it has been announced that Broadway stars Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga who performed in the West End run of the concert last year will return to the show for the Broadway run.

The show is being presented by the Manhattan Theatre Club, which will also be presenting in its season the Broadway premiere of Jonathan Spector’s  Eureka Day directed by Anna D Shapiro (beginning 25 November).
