The Disney film was released in the summer of 1994.

The Royal Albert Hall will mark the 30th anniversary since the cinema release of The Lion King with two concert screenings of the film on the 5th and 6th July.
Meanwhile, the score for the film will be performed by the Chineke! Orchestra, who were formed to provide career opportunities for Black and ethnically diverse classical musicians in the UK and Europe along with the London Community Gospel Choir who featured on the film’s original soundtrack.
In addition, it has also been confirmed that a special encore will celebrate the stage production of the musical, with performers and puppets from the West End production taking part to celebrate the occasion. The West End production will celebrate its 25th anniversary later this year.
The film features songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, alongside a score composed by Hans Zimmer. A new live action film featuring the beloved characters from the original film, titled Mufasa: The Lion King will head to cinema screens on the 20th December 2024.
