As we head towards summer, here’s a glimpse of some of the theatre opening in London this month for audiences to enjoy…

Kathy & Stella Solve a Murder, Ambassadors Theatre: this new musical by Jon Brittain and Matthew Floyd Jones follows the adventures of two true crime podcasters as they find themselves involved trying to solve the murder of their favourite author. It heads to London following successful runs in Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol. Official opening night takes place on the 5th June.

Being Mr Wickham, Jermyn Street Theatre: written and starring Adrian Lukas, who is reprising the role that he played in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, this Original Theatre production heads to London for a limited season. It tells the story of Mr Wickham in his very own words and will be certain to please fans of Jane Austen’s novel.

Kiss Me Kate, Barbican: featuring the music and lyrics of Cole Porter, Bartlett Sher’s production is set to feature an all star cast including Broadway star Stephanie J Block, Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar, West End star Charlie Stemp and rising West End star Georgina Onuorah. It is set to have its press night ion the 18th June.

The Marilyn Conspiracy, Park Theatre: from the 19th June until the 27th July, this play co-written by by actress Vicki McKellar (Paradise Lost, Leicester Square Theatre) and Olivier Award-winning West End and Broadway director Guy Masterson (9 Circles, Park Theatre & The Shark is Broken, West End) follows the final few days of the actress’s life and seeks to uncover what really happened to her.

Slave Play, Noel Coward Theatre: beginning performances on the 29th June, Robert O’Hara’s play arrives in London following a successful run on Broadway and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards. It is a story that is about race, sex, power relations, trauma and interracial relationships.

Mean Girls, Savoy Theatre: also heading to London this month is the musical adaptation based on the film starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. A film version of the musical was released earlier this year and follows teen Cady as she navigates the world of the infamous ‘Plastics’ led by Regina George. It begins previews at the Savoy Theatre on the 5th June.

Marie Curie: A New Musical, Charing Cross Theatre: this English language premiere of the musical will run at the theatre until the 28th July, starring Ailsa Davidson in the title role. It explores her life and the consequences of her discovering radium. It is directed by Sarah Meadows.
