The new musical biography will head to the New York stage in 2026.
It has been announced that a new musical biography about Dolly Parton will be heading to Broadway in 2026.
This new musical uses the title of her debut album released in 1967 and is set to feature a score by Parton that includes new material as well as her biggest hits and a book by Parton and Maria S Schlatter.
Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.
Having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Parton’s most recent album, Rockstar (2023), scored her biggest album debut sales week of her seven-decade career.
Among her biggest hits are: “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Islands in the Stream,” and “Coat of Many Colors.” She also wrote the score for the Broadway musical adaptation of 9 to 5 and earned a Tony Award nomination.
