The celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s work will take place on the 20th and 21st October.
Sondheim on Sondheim offers an insight into the composer’s world through his own words and music and was created by James Lapine (book) in 2010.
Now it heads to the Alexandra Palace later this year, directed by Paul Foster, with musical direction by Alex Parker and choreography by Joanna Goodwin ( the team behind the 2022 concert of Gypsy at the same venue).
The revue will use a combination of two dozen songs along with video interviews (both original and archival footage) to offer a comprehensive look at Sondheim’s life and career. Song from 19 of his musicals will be featured including West Side Story, Company, Follies, and Into The Woods.
It has also been announced that the cast is set to include: Fra Fee, Georgina Onuorah, Jenna Russell, and Scarlett Strallen with further casting yet to be announced.
The creative team also includes: lighting designer Jack Weir, sound designer Paul Smith, and video designer Neil McDowell Smith as well as a 14 piece orchestra performing Sondheim’s beloved music.
