Looking to take your kids to the theatre this Summer holiday? Here is a few that you might want to check out….

Frozen, Theatre Royal Drury Lane: while this one might be an obvious one to mention, it is sadly leaving the West End this September so this is the last opportunity to catch this beloved story on stage at least. Having been three times as an adult (and no kids) it is a real joy to watch unfold and is filled with magic – seeing the way in which the kids in the audience lighting up is heartwarming. Disney can prove the power of great story telling on stage as well as film as evidenced here.
Blippi: The Wonderful Live Tour, Harold Pinter Theatre : for those with children who are slightly younger, Blippi is back in London for a summer season from the 8th July until the 7th September. Having been nominated for an Olivier Award in 2023, this new show will once again encourage its audiences to dance, sing, and learn with Blippi and special guest Meekah as they discover what makes different cities unique and special.

Mrs.Doubtfire, Shaftesbury Theatre: whether you are looking for nostalgia or introducing this classic story to your child for the first time there is something for the whole family to enjoy in this heartwarming stage adaptation based on the film starring Robin Williams. The cast is led by the wonderful Gabriel Vick who makes the role of Daniel Hillard completely his own – definitely worth catching this summer!
The Secret Garden, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre: why not head to the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre to catch Holly Robinson’s adaptation based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved novel – it seems the perfect location to catch this charming story that celebrates nature and magic combined. It is running at the theatre until the 20th July.

The Play That Goes Wrong, Duchess Theatre: this long running comedy from Mischief Theatre continues to delight audiences with its joyful and cleverly thought out physical comedy and ridiculously likeable characters that feels like a love letter to both the theatre and of course murder mysteries as well.
Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors: for a little history lesson told in delightful ways, certainly take the kids to the Apollo Theatre to catch this fun infused way to learn all about the terrible Tudors, taking audiences from the horrible Henries through to the evil Elizabeth – find out the legends surrounding this royal family by heading to the West End from the 25th July until the 1st September.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Theatre Royal Haymarket: this beloved stage adaptation of Judith Kerr’s charming book is back in the West End for the summer from the 8th July until the 31st August. So if your child loves books (or tigers!) then make sure you book in for this show!
Shrek the Musical, Eventim Apollo Theatre: heading back to London for six weeks only, this musical based on the hit 2000 film brings the fairytale adventure to the stage.Including songs from the the original film as well as original songs, there is plenty of fun and laughter to be had in the company of Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey of course!
