The production of Jules Styne and Stephen Sondheim’s musical will begin previews at the Majestic Theatre on the 21st November.

It has been announced that Tony winner Danny Burstein will play Herbie opposite Audra McDonald’s Rose in the upcoming Broadway revival of Gypsy, which has set its opening night as the 19th December.
Directed by George C Wolfe, the production reunites the director with McDonald having previously collaborated on the Broadway musical Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, which ran in 2016. Danny Burnstein returns to Broadway for the first time since performing in Moulin Rouge!
Based on the 1957 memoirs of striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, the musical features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It tracks the mother and daughter relationship between Rose and Gypsy Rose Lee and features songs such as ‘if Momma Were Married’ and ‘You Gotta Have a Gimmick’.
The musical originally made its Broadway debut in 1959 with Ethel Merman starring as Rose. Since then it has been revived four times including performances from Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly, Bernadette Peters, and Patti LuPone.
