His final season will begin in the Spring of 2025.
The National Theatre has unveiled details of Rufus Norris’ final season as artistic director, beginning in the Spring and will include four world premieres with new plays by Suzie Miller,Shaan Sahota, David Lan, and David Eldridge.
Michael Abbensetts’ comedy Alterations, which has been sourced from the Black Plays Archive, will play at the Lyttelton Theatre from the 20th February to 5th April. Featuring new material from Trish Cooke, the production will be directed by Lynette Linton (Blues for an Alabama Sky, Shifters).
It has also been confirmed that Stephen Sondheim’s final musical Here We Are, will transfer to London from New York to appear at the Lyttelton Theatre from the 23rd April until the 28th June. This UK premiere will be directed by Joe Mantello and follows a group of guests who are unable to leave a dinner party.
The theatre will also see the returns of James Graham’s Dear England (10th March until the 24th May) and Alecky Blythe and Adam Cork’s London Road (5th to the 21st June).
Juliet Stevenson is set to star in former Young Vic artistic director David Lan’s new play The Land of the Living. Directed by Stephen Daldry, the play will run at the theatre’s Dorfman space from September.
This will then be followed by David Eldridge completing his trilogy of plays, following Beginning and Middle, with End, directed by artistic director Rachel O’Riordan which will head to the National Theatre in the Winter of 2025. Further details have yet to be confirmed.
It was also confirmed that the team behind the award winning production of Prima Facie will reunite for the world premiere of Inter Alia, written by Suzie Miller and director Justin Martin. Set to run at the theatre next summer (dates to be confirmed), the production will see Rosamund Pike making her National Theatre debut.
