Details have been unveiled of American-Japanese artist Makiko Harris’s latest conceptual art film and multimedia exhibition which will be hosted at the art’otel London Hoxton, for a limited time only.

Needle Dance was created in collaboration with Director Peter Gray(renowned as a prolific and imaginative image-maker, contributing to editorial shoots for a range of luxury and style titles including Italian, American and British Vogue, Harperʼs Bazaar), CostumeDesigner Deborah Milner (noted for her sculptural and innovative couture, she also consulted for Alexander McQueen realising some of his most iconic showpieces) and Composer and Executive Producer Carlos Basilisco. The ambitious violin score that accompanies the film was also co-composed and performed by Harris.

The exhibition includes a five-minute underwater film blending stunning visuals and movement, inspired by the Japanese legend of the red thread of fate as well as monumental needle sculptures, intricate two-dimensional artworks, and original costumes by Deborah Milner.

Harris’s practice explores themes of feminism, identity, and the tension between fate and autonomy. Her work has gained international recognition, from the Tate Modern to permanent collections in the U.S. and beyond. Needle Dance invites viewers to reflect on connection, independence, and creative transformation.
