NEWS: Chichester Festival Theatre Announces 2025 Season

The Chichester Festival Theatre has uncovered details of its upcoming 2025 season including five world premieres, two UK premieres, and a mix of musicals and classics.

This new season will open with The Royal Shakespeare Company’s former artistic director Gregory Doran’s new adaptation of The Government Inspector by Phil Porter, which is set to star Tom Rosenthal. The production will run at the theatre from the 25th April until the 24th May.

It has also been announced that Kathleen Marshall (Crazy For You) will direct a brand new production of Top Hat, which will run at the venue from the 14th July until the 6th September.

Meanwhile, a musical adaptation of Rachel Joyce’s The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry featuring  music and lyrics by Passenger, creator of the song “Let Her Go” will take place from the 5th May until the 14th June. Directed by Katy Rudd, the cast is set to include: Mark Addy and Jenna Russell.

Also included in the season are Choir by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti, running from 2nd to 30th August and Safe Space, penned by Moulin Rouge! star Jamie Bogyo, runs from 11th October to 8th November.

It was also confirmed that Natalie Dormer will star in Anna Karenina, adapted and directed by Phillip Breen, running from 7th to 28th June at the Festival Theatre.

It has also been announced that Giles Terera will star as Hamlet in the theatre’s first production of Shakespeare’s play when it runs from the  6th September to 4th October.

Elsewhere, Anthony Lau will direct Nigel Williams’s adaptation of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. This production will run in Chichester from the 19th September until the 11th October.

In addition, for family audiences the Chichester Festival Youth Theatre will present A Boy Called Christmas from the 15th to 31st December, while The Three Little Pigs by Stiles and Drewe will be staged in a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre, running from the 6th to 28th December.
