NEWS: Laura Whitmore & Sophie Melville to Star in Apex Predator

The Hampstead Theatre has announced casting for the upcoming world premiere of Apex Predator, which will be directed by Blanche McIntyre.

This production of the play will see Sophie Melville star as Mia and Laura Whitmore as Ana. Whitmore returns to the UK stage following her performance in  2:22 A Ghost Story in the West End, while . Melville’s previous theatre credits include Iphigenia in Splott and Wolfie. The cast is also set to include  Bryan Dick (The Hills of California) as Joe and Leander Deeny (Abigail’s Party and Wuthering Heights) will star as Victor. It was also confirmed that Callum Knowelden and Lorcan Reilly will share the role of Alfie.

Mia is going out of her mind in a flat with a baby that won’t feed. Her son Alfie’s getting bullied at school; her husband Joe is working all hours for the police on a job he can’t talk about; the neighbour keeps blasting music at 2am; and another body has been found in the Thames.

As Mia desperately looks for something in her life she can control, Alfie’s teacher Ana proposes an unconventional route to empowerment – and suddenly the hunted becomes the hunter…

The creative team behind the production includes: designer Tom Piper, lighting designer Jack Knowles, sound designer Christopher Shutt, movement and intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, and casting director Annelie Powell.
