REVIEW: Hotel King’s Court,Prague

Set right in the heart of the city of Prague, the King’s Court Hotel is a wonderful place to re-charge the batteries after a day of exploring the city. Based only 15 minutes away from the famous Charles Bridge and a seven minute walk to the old town square it is possible to get anywhere that you need to get to easily – particularly with a tram service close by.

Based in a neo-Renaissance building which once hosted the  Czech Chamber of Commerce. there is a sense of grandeur and luxury in evidence from the marble floors to the grans stair case and the room that I stayed in made me feel like a princess (see below picture). It was suitably cosy and calming place to relax and sleep in. There is a free daily bottle of water and Nespresso coffee machine available for those looking for a drink in the comfort of the room (of course there is the mini bar as well), while my particular bathroom featured a luxurious shower. I was also intrigued by the pillow menu that is also available, depending on what you require!

Meanwhile, for those who are looking to enjoy the spa facilities there is an additional cost for using these in the deluxe rooms (10 euros per day but those staying in the Executive rooms and Suites have complimentary access). But it is completely worth to do so as it leaves you with the most zen like feeling – particularly given there is no limit to the time that you can spend in there. It has pool with a counter-current; Jacuzzi; relaxation area; steam room; Finnish sauna and fitness area. I found the pool particularly relaxing (there are a few special tricks to it to discover as well).

In terms of dining, the Adele restaurant just located off to the right of the reception and offers wonderful views of the square and ideal if you are looking to watch the world go by. In terms of the food, it offers a variety of cuisine to suit a variety of tastes – including duck breast with sweet potato puree, fallow deer with black root puree, demi glace sauce scented with chocolate and king mushroom and a variety of steaks for example. the food was delicious – but I did feel on occasion that the customer service while for the most part was professional was slightly lacking in places and not just in the restaurant area – it felt that there was just a slight lacking in warmth.

This being said, there is a lovely attention to detail – I stayed on my birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the addition of a cake in my room to enjoy which was greatly appreciated and enjoyed with a glass of fizz to round off the celebrations.

Overall, this was a pleasant and relaxing stay and I would recommend in terms of location to explore the city and luxurious surroundings.
