The Pleasance theatre in London has announced its autumn/winter season will bring together returning companies, new writing, Edinburgh transfers, a Halloween takeover and a glittering six-week Christmas spectacular as part of the season.
This newly announced season will open with company Rhum + Clay returning to the stage with their production of Dario Fo’s devilishly funny masterpiece, Mistero Buffo. It will run at the theatre from the 23rd September until the 11th October.
In October, the theatre will celebrate Halloween, with a wide variety of shows taking place including: celebration. The Simple Life and Death directed by
Fizz Sinclair (Mulan Rouge, Carmen 1808) and ShayShay, TRANS-sylvania! and Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More W/ EVEN MORE Feeling! and SUCKER 4 U.
Meanwhile travelling to London from Edinburgh Pleasance’s Charlie Hartill Fund winners will take to the stage including Kanpur: 1857 is a new play that comically satirises contemporary conflicts around gender and colonial violence.
The festive season will see two versions of Wicked Witches – A Popular
Panto staged with one being family friendly, while the other will be a cheeky adults only version.
Ellie Simpson, Head of Theatre London at Pleasance Theatre Trust said: “This season marks my first full programme – the beginning of an exciting next chapter in Pleasance’s year- round work in the capital. We’re bringing together returning favourites and original new voices, building on our reputation for championing daring, distinctive artists. It’s a real kaleidoscope of new writing, theatrical risk-takers, and genre-defying performance. We’re also placing renewed focus on longer runs and supporting artists at every stage, blending early-career brilliance with established trailblazers. I hope you’ll join us in the audience.”
